Fake News

Beware the idle truth that’s told

from lips that promise gold.

The ears may hear a pleasing noise,

but the spirit will grow cold.

Facts far removed from home

become a national song,

presenting us self-serving ones,

and proclaims all kindness gone.

Beware the idle truth that’s told

from lips with inward eyes.

A truth that will consume us all

and reaps a golden lie.

Condemned to face our ugly heart

in a world torn apart,

those inward eyes exposed a fault:

Will we make a new start?

Beware the idle truth that’s told

from beguiling wealth.

Who laughs at all our innocence?

False Hope - in chains we’re sold.
