Cock-a-doodle-doo

Sunrise brings a light show over the field and forest behind my house. It is unsurpassable in viewing pleasure by my measure, and I grew up in the Aloha state having seen much when it comes to beauty. The roosters sing it on in until the glow of morning is bright and the sleepy-eyed matriarch arrives at the coop door for release. The chickens are one of my greatest pleasures in life, so funny to watch and listen to. Some days I like to sit for an hour or two with stale bread in hand, feeding the funny creatures. Some are trepidacious and stay at the perimeter catching the crumbs that fall. Others are bold and eat directly from my hand. Their personalities come out as they eat. There are the gentle ones who peck just deep enough to take the morsel of food, but not enough to touch my palm. Then there are those who self-gorge and peck hard and deep, catching food, finger, ring and skin in their beak, not differentiating between. But they are my pets and I love them all.
